Thandai (Milk Badam)

Welcomes on my blog Khaana Khazana Tasty. Today's recipe is summer special. It is very common recipe. Thandai is easily available in market but it is good to prepare at home. If you are preparaing at home it means you are using pure ingredients. It's ingredients are very useful for health specialy in summers. Almonds are very good in summer when these are soaked in water for 5-6 hours. Thandai gives coolness and strength to the body. So let us start the recipe.


Course - drink
Cuisine - North India
Preparation time - 5 hours (for soaking) and 30 minutes

Ingredients - 
Cold milk - 1 litre
Sugar - 1 cup
Almonds - 50 gm
Posta - 1 tablespoon
Dry rose petals - 1 tablespoon
Saffron - few strings
Black pepper - 1 tablespoon
Fennel seeds - 1 tablespoon
Muskmelon seeds - 1 tablespoon
Small cardamom - 8
Ice cubes - as required





Method of preparation -
1.Soak almonds in water for 5 hours.


2.Soak dry rose petals, fennel seeds, black pepper, muskmelon seeds, posta (poppy seeds), small cardamom in water for 5 hours.


3.Remove skin of almonds.



4.Grind all soaked ingredients with little water.


5.Make sugar syrup.
6.Strain above mixture through a strainer.
7.Soak saffron in little milk.


8.Mix above mixture, sugar syrup, ice cubes, saffron in cold  milk.


9.Mix well and serve chilled.
